You are planning a vacation to Paris, so surely you will have questions about public transportation tickets.
Perhaps you have already read somewhere that there are various tickets for public transportation in Paris and its Île-de-France region.
Indeed, it is not easy to navigate through all of this and make a decision on which ticket would be the best, especially if you are not familiar with the city or are traveling to Paris spontaneously. Let's hope that the following article will dispel any doubts.
Ticket+, Mobilis, Paris Visite, Navigo Découverte, or Navigo Easy?
In any case, it's important to know that there are two types of tickets:
Cardboard tickets: Ticket+, Mobilis, Paris Visite (they are being phased out by the transport authority, and that's why Navigo Easy is being introduced, which will soon completely replace cardboard tickets through Navigo Easy or through the IDF Mobilités app on Android).
City cards or rechargeable cards: Navigo Découverte or Navigo Easy.
To choose the right ticket, we recommend answering the following questions:
👉 Duration of Stay: How many days are you staying? Will you be there for a whole week from Monday to Sunday?
👉 Airport: Which airport are you arriving at, and are you using public transportation?
👉 Accommodation: Where is your accommodation located (which zone)?
👉 Age: Are you traveling with children aged 4-11? Are you under 26?
👉 Sightseeing Plan: What do you plan to visit?
These questions will help determine the most suitable ticket based on the length of your stay, the airport you arrive at, the location of your accommodation, your age, and your sightseeing plans.
Your answers will help you choose the right ticket, and you can find more details below:
Using the "IDF Mobilités" app, you can check the zone where your accommodation is located. Simply enter a sample route, and at the bottom of the screen, you'll see something like "Zone 2," indicating the second zone. You can also use the public transportation map.
A ticket for zones 1-3 allows you to travel within Paris itself, marked on the map in yellow. On the other hand, having a ticket for zones 4-5 allows you to travel beyond the city limits, visiting places like Disneyland Paris or the Palace of Versailles. With this ticket, you can also use air transport (although most means of transportation with access to airports incur an additional fee, except for the Paris Visite pass).
Zone 1: Major attractions in Paris - Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, Louvre, Notre Dame,...
Zone 2: Vincennes Castle
Zone 3: La Defense
Zone 4: Versailles, Orly Airport
Zone 5: Disneyland, Charles de Gaulle Airport
Here is a list of tickets in Paris and Île-de-France, the Parisian region:

1. Tickets from the airport to Paris (Zone 1)
👉 Ticket from Charles de Gaulle Airport (Zone 5):
🚇 RER B (RER B Train): A one-way ticket for the journey between CDG Airport and Paris costs €11.45 for adults and takes 25-30 minutes.
🚍 RoissyBus: A coach connecting Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris (Opéra Garnier). Costing €16.20, the journey takes approximately 60-75 minutes, with buses running every 15-20 minutes.
🚍 City Bus: Bus number 350 (Terminus: Porte de la Chapelle) and bus number 351 (Terminus: Place de la Nation). Costing €2.10 = Ticket +. Buses run every 15-30 minutes, and the journey takes 1.5 hours without traffic, providing a budget-friendly option but more time-consuming.
🚕 Official Taxi: The fixed fare from the airport to Paris is €62 Rive Gauche or €55 Rive Droite per trip. It is highly recommended if you are 3 or 4 people. We strongly recommend taking a taxi if you arrive late after 22:00.
🚨 Note: A ticket from the airport is not necessary if you opt for the Navigo card: from Charles de Gaulle, you can take the RER B or RoissyBus, included in the Navigo card price. However, with the purchase of Paris Visite 1-5, only the RER B from Charles de Gaulle is included, and RoissyBus is not.
👉 Ticket from Orly Airport (Zone 4):
🚆 OrlyVal Ticket: An automatic train connecting Orly Airport (OrlyVal) to Antony Station (Zone 3), from where you can continue your journey on RER B.
🚍 OrlyBus Ticket: A coach connecting Orly Airport to various points in Paris and its surroundings. Costing €11.20, the journey takes about 25-30 minutes, with buses running every 8-15 minutes.
Orly Bus serves two bus lines:
Line 1 connects Orly Airport to Denfert-Rochereau metro station (M4 and M6 lines).
Line 2 connects Orly Airport to Gare Montparnasse railway station (M4, M6, M12, and M13 lines).
🚋 Tramway T7: Tramway connecting Orly to Villejuif-Louis Aragon (transfer at M7). Costing €2.10 = Ticket + for one trip, the journey to Villejuif takes about 30 minutes, and to reach the center of Paris, count approximately an hour from the airport.
🚕 Official Taxi: The fixed fare from the airport to Paris is €35 Rive Gauche or €41 Rive Droite per trip. It is highly recommended if you are 3 or 4 people. We strongly recommend taking a taxi if you arrive late after 22:00.
🚨 Note: A ticket from the airport is not necessary if you opt for the Navigo card: from Orly, you can take OrlyBus, included in the ticket except OrlyVal. However, with the purchase of Paris Visite 1-5, OrlyVal and OrlyBus are included in the price.
👉 Ticket from Beauvais Airport (70 km from Paris):
To reach Paris from Beauvais Airport, the best public transportation option is a coach that will take you directly to Palais de Congrès - Porte Maillot.
Tickets can be purchased on-site at the airport exit or online to save time and money.
Prices for tickets purchased online:
| Full fare | Reduced fare (4-11 lat) |
One-way ticket | 16,90 € | 9,90 € |
Round-trip ticket | 29,90 € | 19,80 € |
Link to purchase tickets online.
Note: Prices for on-site tickets are slightly higher than online tickets. For example, the on-site normal ticket price is €18 instead of €16.90.
ATTENTION:
Due to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris this summer, the A01 line from Paris-Beauvais Airport ↔ Paris Porte Maillot will be temporarily rerouted. Starting May 10th, you can continue to use the Aerobus service to and from Paris on the following lines:
Line A02: Paris-Beauvais Airport ↔ Paris Saint-Denis Université, with up to 80 round trips per day. Tickets are available online or on-site and are valid for any journey.
Line A03: Paris-Beauvais Airport ↔ Paris La Défense, with up to 20 round trips per day (online reservation required).
Tickets purchased before May 10, 2024, for the A01 line will remain valid on the A02 line (Paris-Beauvais Airport ↔ Paris Saint-Denis Université) under the same conditions. It is recommended to depart from Paris Saint-Denis Université at least 3 hours before your flight departure.
2. Single Ticket - TICKET+:
🎫 Ticket + is a standard ticket, allowing a single journey on one metro line, tram, bus, or RER train for a duration not exceeding 90 minutes. Transfers between different modes of transportation are allowed, but a return to the starting point is not permitted during this time. One cardboard or electronic ticket loaded onto Navigo Easy costs €2.10 and can be purchased at ticket machines, RATP kiosks, or in the metro.
A booklet of Ticket+ tickets consists of 10 single tickets, functioning as described above. The price for a booklet of 10 separate Ticket+ tickets is €19.10 (so you can share the tickets). A ticket booklet can also be purchased on a Navigo Easy card, where the price is more attractive at €16.90 for 10 electronic tickets, but the rides from the card can be used by only one person.
🚨 Note: Ticket + allows travel on metro lines, RER lines (Zone 1 only), bus lines in the Île-de-France region (excluding Orlybus and Roissybus), tram lines, and the Montmartre funicular, all within Zone 1-5 except RER.
☺️👌 We recommend Ticket + for people staying in Zone 1 and planning to walk a lot. Ticket + can be recharged through Navigo Easy. Additionally, you can purchase a separate destination ticket to Versailles or Disneyland from a specific station or a separate ticket to the airport and back.
3. Destination Ticket:
A destination ticket is a ticket purchased at a machine at a specific station for travel to the final destination.
Prices for destination tickets can be checked in the "IDF Mobilités" app. If your location is enabled, simply enter the destination station. The app will show you which line you can take, the travel time, ticket price, and the zone in which you will be traveling.
☺️👌 The destination ticket is an ideal option if you are in Paris for only a few days and plan to go to Disneyland or Versailles. A round-trip ticket will be cheaper than a daily ticket if you plan to spend the entire day in one place. We recommend combining this ticket with Ticket +, Mobilis, or Paris Visite.
4. Daily Ticket - Mobilis:
Mobilis is a ticket that allows unlimited travel on all modes of transportation in Paris and its surroundings throughout the day, valid until midnight. Mobilis is available in several zones, and prices start at €8.45. It can be purchased at ticket machines at public transportation stations.
ZONE | PRICE |
1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 | 8,45€ |
1-3, 2-4, 3-5 | 11,30€ |
1-4, 2-5 | 14 € |
1-5 | 20,10 € |
☺️👌 Mobilis ticket is an ideal solution for people passing through Paris. Please note that a Mobilis one-day ticket for zones 1-3 is more than €2 cheaper than a Paris Visite 1-3 for one day.
5. Paris Visite (1-3) Paris Center or Paris Visite (1-5) Suburbs:
Paris Visite is a special tourist ticket that allows unlimited use of public transportation in Paris and its surroundings. This ticket is particularly recommended for tourists who want to explore Paris and nearby attractions while valuing comfort and time savings.
Paris Visite is available in several variations, depending on the number of days it should be valid and the zone it should cover. The ticket is valid until midnight of the designated day. You can purchase the ticket for 1, 2, 3, or 5 days in zones 1-3 or 1-5.
Paris Visite 1-3 Paris Center:
Number of days | Full fare | Reduced fare (4-10 years old) |
1 | 13,55€ | 6,75€ |
2 | 22,05€ | 11€ |
3 | 30,10€ | 15,05€ |
5 | 43,30€ | 21,65€ |
Paris Visite 1-5 Banlieu (Suburbs)
Number of days | Full fare | Reduced fare (4-10 years old) |
1 | 28,50€ | 14,25€ |
2 | 43,30€ | 21,65€ |
3 | 60,70€ | 30,35€ |
5 | 74,30€ | 37,15€ |
Important benefits of having a Paris Visite ticket include the unlimited and unrestricted use of public transportation within chosen zones. The ticket allows for seamless travel throughout Paris and its surroundings, depending on the selected zone. Another advantage is that once you purchase the ticket, you don't need to stand in line again at the ticket machine, especially during peak tourist seasons at major attractions.
The Paris Visite ticket can be bought at public transportation ticket points, including Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports and train stations.
🚨 Note: The ticket is valid on all public transportation modes such as metro, buses, trams, RER and SNCF trains, as well as night lines and Orlyval (the only ticket valid on OrlyVal). The ticket needs to be validated each time you enter a specific mode of transportation (e.g., bus or tram), and failure to validate may result in a fine during checks.
☺️👌 The Paris Visite ticket is a very convenient solution for tourists visiting Paris, allowing for flexible exploration of the city and its surroundings while saving time and money. It's an ideal ticket for tourists spending a few days in Paris, especially if their accommodation is outside Zone 1.
6. Navigo Easy:
Navigo Easy is a city card used in Paris, France. It is an electronic card that enables the use of public transportation in Paris, including the metro, buses, trams, and RER (suburban trains). Think of it as an electronic Ticket+ and Mobilis.
Navigo Easy card is easy to use—simply tap it on the reader, and the fare will be automatically deducted from the card. The card is fully reusable and can be recharged at kiosks or machines at metro stations.
Navigo Easy card is particularly useful for tourists visiting Paris for a short period. This card allows using public transportation in the French capital without the need to purchase single tickets.
The Navigo Easy card is reusable, so it can be recharged at kiosks or machines at metro stations. The cost of recharging the card depends on the selected tariff and the duration of the pass, but for tourists visiting Paris for a short period, the fee is usually lower than purchasing single tickets.
Card issuance cost: €2
Types of recharges:
👉 Navigo Easy with Ticket +
Navigo Easy z Ticket + Single Ticket | 2,10 € |
Navigo Easy z Ticket + 10 rides pass | 16,90 € |
🚨 Note: Please note that the price of a single ticket is the same as the single cardboard Ticket + ticket. However, you need to add €2 to obtain the card. On the other hand, a 10-ride pass comes out €0.20 cheaper with the Navigo Easy card, including the card issuance fee.
☺️👌 Navigo Easy Ticket + is recommended for individuals staying in Zone 1 and planning to walk a lot. If you use fewer tickets than the 10-ride pass, it is not cost-effective to load Ticket + onto Navigo Easy; instead, it's better to buy individual cardboard tickets. However, if you plan to use a minimum of 10 rides, obtaining the card is cost-effective. It's a convenient option instead of carrying multiple tickets. Unfortunately, cards cannot be shared with other people.
👉 Navigo Easy Daily:
Daily 2 zones (1-2 / 2-3 / 4-3 / 4-5) | 8,45 € |
Daily 3 zones (1-3 / 2-4 / 3-5) | 11,30 € |
Daily 4 zones (1-4 / 2-5) | 14,00 € |
Daily 5 zones (1-5) | 20,10 € |
🚨 Note: Please note that the ticket prices are the same as Mobilis, but you need to add €2 to obtain the card.
☺️👌 This ticket is rarely used and is recommended for individuals who are passing through Paris, for example, for one day.
👉 Navigo Easy (Youth Weekend) - Youth Weekend <26 years old
Navigo Jeunes Week-end is a one-day ticket for individuals under 26 years old, valid on Saturdays or Sundays.
The card is valid on regular public transport lines (metro, train, RER, express tram, tram, bus) Orlybus and Roissybus; on night bus lines Noctilien; on TER or Intercités trains (excluding mandatory reservations) in second class. This card is not valid on Orlyval, Fileo, TGV, or Transilien lines.
This ticket is available for zones 1-3, 1-5, or 3-5, valid for one day, only in selected validity zones, until 11:59 PM in all modes and until 5:59 AM the next day for Noctilien night buses.

At the machine marked Navigo Easy and at the window at public transportation stations and airports.
How to recharge?
At the machine and at the window at public transportation stations, at airports, or through the "Île-de-France Mobilités" app.
🚨 Note: During inspection, you must have an official document confirming your age. You do not need to be a resident of France.
☺️👌 An ideal ticket for individuals under 26 years old who plan to be in Paris over the weekend or pass through the weekend. If the stay is longer, it's worth comparing with Navigo Découverte or a combination of Navigo Easy Youth Weekend with Paris Visite (from 2 days) or Mobilis (one day).
7. Navigo Découverte Card:
The Navigo Découverte card is a magnetic card that allows for unlimited travel within selected zones (1-5, 2-3, 3-4, and 4-5) for a day, a week, a month, or a year. The card costs €5, and you can obtain it at the ticket windows of public transportation stations. It is not possible to purchase the Navigo Découverte Card from a machine.
To obtain the card, you will need a photo ID, similar to what is required for an ID card. We recommend having a credit card for payment.
Card issuance cost: €5
Recharge options based on the duration of your stay: day, week, month, or year.
Navigo Découverte (Zone 1-5) | Price |
Daily | 8,45 € |
Weekly (monday-sunday) | 30 € |
Monthly | 84,10 € |
Yearly | 925,10 € |
🚨Note: Please be aware that the daily card costs the same as the Mobilis ticket, but you need to add €5 to obtain the Navigo Découverte card.
☺️👌 The Navigo Découverte card is the best option for individuals planning to arrive for a week, from Monday to Sunday, and stay for a minimum of 3 days. It is also an excellent solution for those arriving at Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports and intending to use public transportation: OrlyBus and RER B are included in the ticket price.
