Why is it so difficult to find accommodation in Paris ?

Paris is one of the most popular tourist cities in the world and attracts millions of tourists every year. This means that there is high competition for available accommodations, especially during the tourist season.

In Paris, there is also a legal regulation that requires landlords to only rent out their apartments and rooms for short periods of time. As a result, most accommodations are not available for long-term rental, which can make finding housing difficult.

Furthermore, accommodation prices in Paris can be relatively high due to the high cost of living in the city, which influences rental prices. Ultimately, when it comes to popular tourist districts in Paris, such as Montmartre or Saint-Germain-des-Prés, they are particularly desired by tourists, resulting in higher prices and limited availability of accommodations.

Prices per square meter in Paris vary significantly depending on the district and location of the property. Generally, the closer to the center, the higher the prices.

The cheapest districts in Paris are mainly peripheral areas, such as the 20th arrondissement, Aubervilliers, or Saint-Denis, where prices per square meter start at around 6,000 euros and increase depending on the condition of the property, amenities, and location.

On the other hand, the most expensive districts in Paris are primarily located in the heart of the city, such as the 1st arrondissement (Louvre), the 6th arrondissement (Saint-Germain-des-Prés), or the 8th arrondissement (Champs-Élysées), where prices per square meter can exceed 20,000 euros. In these districts, property prices are the highest due to their proximity to business centers, shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions.

Hauts-de-Seine is a French department located in the Île-de-France region, northwest of Paris. This department consists of 36 municipalities and covers an area of 176 km². Hauts-de-Seine is one of the richest and most urbanized parts of France. It is home to the headquarters of many companies and financial institutions, as well as important business and commercial centers. The economy of the department relies on industry, trade, services, and tourism. Hauts-de-Seine offers many tourist attractions, including the Palace of Versailles. There are also numerous parks and gardens, such as the Park de Sceaux and the Park de Saint-Cloud, which are popular places for relaxation and recreation.

However, it is important to note that prices per square meter in Paris are among the highest in the world and represent a significant expense for most residents and tourists visiting the city.

Finding affordable accommodation in Paris does not necessarily mean that the neighborhood is unsafe. There are many factors that influence accommodation prices, such as the tourist season, location, level of comfort, and type of accommodation offered.

In some cases, inexpensive accommodations can be found in less popular or more distant neighborhoods that are safe and peaceful but may not be as trendy or attractive from a tourist perspective as the more well-known and central parts of the city.

However, it is important to remember that, like in any large city, there are neighborhoods in Paris that are less safe, and caution should be exercised, especially at night. It is advisable to check the reviews of other tourists or seek advice from local residents to make the right choice of accommodation and avoid dangers.
